Who you talk to

You talk to an independent provider. That is a local business that inspects, tests, or removes mold. Keepscurrent Mold Help is the link between you and them. We do not do the work, and we do not send anyone to your home.

Providers in our network run their own companies. Each sets its own prices, hours, and methods. That is why you should compare, and why a quote in writing matters.

What happens on the call

The first talk is short and simple. Expect questions like these:

  • Where do you see mold, and how big is the spot?
  • Did a leak, flood, or storm happen?
  • Is there a musty smell?
  • What kind of home is it, and does it have a basement?

Answer as well as you can. Photos help. The provider may suggest an inspection first. They may also book a visit to look at the problem in person.

What to ask a provider

Bring a short list. Good questions include:

  • Are you licensed where I live, and are you insured?
  • Do you offer certified mold testing, and who does the sampling?
  • How will you find and fix the source of the damp?
  • Will you give me a written quote with the steps listed?
  • What is not in the price?
  • How will you keep mold spores from spreading while you work? (Spores are the tiny seeds mold sends into the air.)
  • Is there a test after cleanup to show the job worked?

If the same company does testing and cleanup, ask how they keep those jobs fair. Some homeowners like a separate tester.

You are in control

Talking to a provider does not commit you to anything. You can ask for more than one quote. You can say no. You can take a day to think.

Be careful with pressure. A careful provider explains and then lets you decide. Look before you leap.
